Educational school camp

A unique multi-day experience in which students live as people did in the past.

Sleeping in history

How often do students get the chance to spend a night in a historic village? Once the day ends and the museum park falls quiet, an experience begins that they won’t forget anytime soon.

During an educational school camp at VONK, students stay overnight in the historic buildings in our museum park. No phones, screens, or notifications. Just cooking together, talking by the fire, and experiencing what everyday life used to be like.

We offer two- and three-day school camps with either a prehistoric or medieval programme. A unique experience in which students don’t just learn about the past. They truly live it.

Prehistoric school camp

Welcome to Eversham. During the prehistoric school camp, this Iron Age village becomes your home.

There are no light switches, supermarkets, or phones here. To eat, you first have to grind grain. To stay warm, you need to make a fire. And baking bread? That’s done in a clay oven.

During this school camp, students experience what everyday life looked like more than 2,000 years ago. They get to work on and around the farm, discover ancient techniques, and learn how people lived and worked in the Iron Age. Of course, there is also time for play: paddling a dugout canoe, spear throwing, and discovering how people entertained themselves.

A few days in Eversham show just how different the world used to be—and perhaps also how much we still have in common with the people who once lived there.

School camp in the Middle Ages

Welcome to Endehoven. During the medieval school camp, you will move into the Noble Farm and experience life in a time of knights, craftsmen, and emerging cities.

During this school camp, students discover that almost everything was made by hand. They get to work with traditional crafts, bake bread, make candles, and help with daily tasks. In this way, they experience how much skill, patience, and cooperation were needed to keep a community running.

In between activities, there is also time for relaxation. Play a medieval game, try walking on stilts, or explore the museum park from a completely different perspective.

A few days in Endehoven bring the Middle Ages surprisingly close. Not from a textbook, but by doing, discovering, and experiencing together.
