About VONK
At Museumpark VONK, you experience 10,000 years of Eindhoven’s history in a unique way. The museum park is continuously evolving with the help of its visitors.
The name VONK stands for the spark of wonder we aim to ignite in every visitor. It also symbolises human growth and development. It refers to the spark that ignites when an inventor has their well-known “eureka” moment and something significant is set in motion. At the same time, it literally refers to the first spark of fire, a crucial moment in human development. This spark of fire also nods to the former preHistorisch Dorp, on which the museum builds. The spark of wonder is a tribute to Eindhoven’s spirit of invention.
VONK is more than just a museum. It is a place in development, where makers, historians, designers, volunteers, and visitors work together. In the workshop, in the museum park, and behind the scenes, new stories, structures, and experiences are continuously being created.

Mission and vision
VONK sees history not only as something from the past, but as something that is constantly in motion and that everyone helps to shape. Guided by the vision “where history becomes tangible,” the museum is building a world in which people become aware of their place within the broader historical context: with room for craftsmanship, memory, stories, perspective, and emotion. Between flint stone and Brainport, we are creating an inclusive, tangible, and meaningful interpretation of history as a source of connection and inspiration for the future.
By actively involving visitors and the surrounding community in thinking and participation, we contribute to increasing historical awareness of the city and region of Eindhoven, and beyond.
Through living heritage, collection objects, crafts, workshops, and personal stories, we connect the past with the present. Accessible, inclusive, and authentic.
The power of togetherness
In the shadows of the past, we go in search of the remarkable story of Eindhoven and its surroundings. We discover the secret ingredient: the power of togetherness. The things of the past tell stories of collaboration between people, but also between humans and landscape, and between humans and technology.
In the workshop, we build remarkable structures together for the park. Visitors can think along, observe, and help build, keeping the museum constantly in motion. In the museum park, structures, historical buildings, and inhabitants bring history to life, allowing us to collectively discover how Eindhoven’s story has been shaped.
